A man has faced court charged with a string of alleged traffic offences in Broken Hill.
Officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command stopped an e-scooter travelling in front of a line of turning traffic on Williams Street, Broken Hill.
Police will allege the rider, a 52-year-old man, was not wearing an approved helmet at the time, instead wearing a black balaclava over his face.
The man was subject to a roadside breath test, to which he returned a negative result.
When police attempted to undertake roadside drug testing, the man allegedly refused.
The e-scooter, believed to be stolen property, was seized.
Police arrested the 52-year-old man and took him to Broken Hill Police Station where he allegedly refused to provide oral fluid for analysis.
He was charged with,
– Never licensed person drive vehicle on road – prior offence
– Use unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on road
– Use uninsured motor vehicle on road
– Motor bike rider (alone) not wear/secure fit approved helmet
– Refuse or fail to submit to oral fluid test
– Refuse or fail to provide oral fluid sample
– Refuse to produce Aust drivers licence/state name/address.
