Mildura Police are reminding the community that it takes seconds to steal a number plate, but it only takes minutes to help secure one.
Police have highlighted some tips for number place security:
Secure your number plates with anti-theft screws or pop rivets.
Park in a garage or driveway where possible.
Consider sensor lighting and CCTV at home.
Park in well-lit areas when on the street.
Police say stolen number plates are often used to avoid identification while committing offences, which can leave vehicle owners dealing with unwanted fines and other complications.
Through their SafePL8 program, Victoria Police, SES and Neighbourhood Watch regularly attend community events to fit anti-theft screws and share practical advice on keeping your number plates secure.
