Youth Parliament team aims to educate secondary schools students on family violence

This year’s Mildura Youth Parliament team features Darcie, Molly, Taneshia, Alex and Alissa (pictured), and council says they’re eager to tackle the big issues at Victorian Youth Parliament.

The team has recently submitted their ‘Family Violence Education in Secondary Schools Bill 2025’.

The Bill’s primary purpose is to educate secondary school students on family violence; its causes, impacts and prevention. The Bill aims to prevent the cycle of family violence through the education of youth, by early intervention measures.

The team will soon fly to Melbourne for a two-day training camp to learn about parliamentary debating and etiquette in preparation to present their Bill in the Victorian Youth Parliament, in July.
