Rain event impact assessments continue

April 27, 2026 8:50 am in by

Dried Fruits Australia says all industries, with the help of state departments, have been surveying and assessing losses from the recent rain event.

This information has been forwarded to the Federal Government with the hope of triggering disaster relief for the region and industries.

While disaster relief will not cover crop losses from the rain, if approved it includes clean-up and recovery grants for small businesses and primary producers.

Recently the industries had a visit from Victoria’s Rural Assistance Commissioner Peter Tuohey, and Agriculture Victoria’s acting Executive Director Ag Services Kate Linden.

They joined locals meeting with Mildura Rural City Council, where all Sunraysia-based industries had the opportunity to explain the impacts of this rain event.

They also had the opportunity to visit a table, wine and dried grape property to hear and see the impacts first-hand.

Dried Fruits Australia CEO Justin Lane says “While any news on this will take some time, I encourage you to contact your Rural Financial Counsellor as the first point of call if you need assistance and you have not already done so.”
