Harvest Season has kicked off which means we’ll see an increase in heavy vehicles travelling on local roads across the state.
Typically, heavy vehicles contribute to 30% of traffic on our roads but during harvest season, this figure more than doubles. We’re also expecting to see an increase in overall traffic as the weather heats up.
To prepare for sharing the roads this harvest season…
Know where a truck’s blind spots are (and avoid them!).
Be mindful of your stopping distance.
Know how to safely overtake heavy vehicles.
Don’t cut in front of a truck (the heavier the truck, the longer it takes for them to come to stop).
Whether you’re behind the wheel of a truck or sharing the road this harvest season, please remember that road safety is everyone’s responsibility.
