A man has been charged following a pursuit in Broken Hill on the weekend.
Police were conducting patrols on Iodide Street, Broken Hill, about 3.30pm Saturday 4 April 2026, when they observed a Subaru sedan without registration plates.
Police activated warning signals, however, the vehicle allegedly failed to stop.
A pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued through Thomas Street, Zebina Street, Williams Street and Sulphide Street, allegedly reaching speeds above 100km/hr in a residential 50km/hr speed zone, before police lost sight of the vehicle.
Shortly after, police attended an address on Wolfram Street, Broken Hill, where they located the vehicle in the rear yard. Police arrested a 45-year-old man, who was taken to Broken Hill Police Station where he was charged with eight offences:
·Police pursuit – not stop – drive at speed,
·Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous,
·Class A motor vehicle exceed speed greater than 45 km/h – Estimated,
·Licence expired within the last 2 years – prior offence,
·Use unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on road,
·Use uninsured motor vehicle on road,
·Owner drive vehicle on road/road related area motor vehicle tax unpaid, and
·Use registrable vehicle not display authorised number-plates.
