Locals looking at getting their veggie gardens ready for another year are being urged to consider the impact of fruit fly.
Fruit Fly Murray Valley says it received more calls for help from home gardeners last year, when tomatoes and other veggies were ruined by the pest.
The group says the best way to avoid dealing with the insects is to have plants and veggies that are not hosts for the fruit fly.

It says netting for garden best also help, but leafy greens, stems and pods and tough-skinned varieties are usually snubbed by the flies.
