International Women’s Day community event this evening

Mildura Rural City Council is inviting the community to join them to celebrate International Women’s Day at Powerhouse Place from 5:30 this afternoon, with a night of free music, art and film.

International Women’s Day (IWD) celebrates and recognises the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. IWD also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.

Food and refreshments will be available from Spark Kiosk, Shippy’s Cafe, and Monak Wine Co throughout the evening. No BYO alcohol.

5.30pm to 8.30pm there will be live music from local rising girls and women on the outdoor stage – hosted by Andrea Soebardi, art activities including badge making and Girls and Women’s Mural Project and the chance to explore the Children’s Art for Social Change Exhibition

From 8:30, a movie night with the screening of I Am Woman on the big screen.

Council is encouraging people to take your own chair, blanket or bean bag and enjoy the film in the Yennaga Janji outdoor gathering space.
