Labor’s water buyback plan as part of the Murray Darling Basin plan is due to start next week, but the government’s being urged to stop it.
Member for Mallee Anne Webster says local councils are worried about the buybacks, and says the compensation scheme is not enough.
She’s written to Water Minister Tanya Plibersek but doesn’t expect a response, and says it’s disappointing for communities.
