Driver charged over bus rollover in Carwarp

Major Collision Investigation detectives have charged a man following the death of two people in a bus rollover in Carwarp.

Police have been told the driver of a mini bus was travelling south along the Calder Highway when the vehicle rolled onto its side and crashed into a tree about 7.45am on Tuesday, 25 June.

Two passengers, a 43-year-old man and a 34-year-old man died at the scene.

A 39-year-old man and a 37-year-old man remain in hospital in a critical condition.

A 27-year-old man and a 26-year-old man remain in hospital in a serious condition.

A 40-year-old man remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Three other passengers, a 28-year-old man, a 23-year-old man and 21-year-old man went to hospital for observation.

It is understood all occupants of the bus, including the driver, were Samoan nationals.

The driver, a 25-year-old man, has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing death and five counts of dangerous driving causing serious injury.

He has been bailed to reappear in December.
