Calls for improvement of chronic wound training

Health experts and advocates want residents in Sunraysia and The Mallee to be more aware of the impact of chronic wounds, along with improved training for local care workers.

More than 450,000 Australians live with the pain, shame and expense of managing a chronic wound, some of which could be minimised with improved treatment and care.

There are also efforts to dispel common misconceptions about treating wounds that can lead to prolonged pain and complications.

CEO of Wounds Australia, Jeff Antcliff, says it’s especially important regional residents and carers know how to best manage a chronic wound.
