The Lower Darling River has been under Red Alert for Blue Green Algae since February this year.
This Red Alert advises water users not to consume or wash in the water without appropriate treatment.
The persistence of Blue Green Algae in the Lower Darling River is now at a duration that alternative supplies such as rainwater is running critically low for some properties.
