World Elder Day Awareness Sessions next month

Mildura Rural City Council are holding two free awareness sessions, presented as part of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, promoting dignity, respect, safety, and informed decision making for older people.

For the first session, Planning Ahead as We Age, Gary Ferguson from Seniors Rights Victoria will present on how to protect your rights as you grow older, stay informed, independent, and confident about future planning.

This session is suitable for seniors, carers, family members, and anyone wanting practical information for future planning and peace of mind. Questions welcome.

The second session, Supporting Older Adults, using an interactive family case study, will explore how to recognise indicators of elder abuse, identify risk factors, and respond appropriately within both professional and organisational contexts.

The session will include discussion opportunities, time for questions, and take-home resources including presentation materials and additional support information.

Both sessions are on Thursday June 11 at Powerhouse Place.

Planning Ahead as We Age, 10:30am to 12:00pm (light refreshments provided) and Supporting Older Adults, 1:00pm to 2:30pm (light lunch provided).
