The new Wentworth Hospital is being built on the current site, but is being touted as delivering enhanced health services in a culturally welcoming and patient-focused environment.
Construction on the 30-MILLION dollar project is now underway, and will be raised above the existing flood levee.
The NSW Government has announced HPAC, based in Sydney, as the main works contractor for the project which is expected to be completed in 2025.
The current hospital is more than 80 years old, with the new facility to include a 19 bed inpatient unit, urgent care centre and palliative care suite.
The current services will continue as normal during the construction phase.
