Petrol drive-off in Barmera

A woman has lost her licence and car after refusing to pay for petrol in Barmera over the weekend.

About 9.20am Saturday (March 2nd) police were called to Tonkin Avenue after reports of people refusing to pay for fuel.

Police spoke to a 39-year-old Taperoo woman who was allegedly the driver of a Holden Cruze.

Checks revealed she was disqualified from driving.

She was drug tested allegedly returning a positive reading.

Police had caused to search the car, inside allegedly finding a small amount of cannabis, bongs, a knife and three credit cards not in the woman’s name.

She was reported for driving disqualified, carry offensive weapon, unlawful possession and making off without payment.

She will be summonsed to appear in Berri Magistrates Court at a later date.

Her vehicle was impounded for 28 days and was she issued with a three month instant loss of licence.
