Wine crush figures point to a further decline in the industry

Wine Australia’s latest harvest report has re-affirmed the decline of the local wine industry.

For the first time in many years, the Riverland produced under 400 thousand tonnes of wine grapes, down from the lofty heights of 500 thousand in 2022.

That’s the lowest crush for the Riverland since 2014.

Murray Darling-Swan Hill increased by 38 per cent after extremely low vintages last year, but that still sits at 15 per cent below the ten year average.

The crop as a whole nationally increased by nine per cent.

The market demand for Shiraz is reportedly continuing to fall.
