Wentworth Shire Council is set to host the 2025 Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony on Saturday 25 January 2025, in the Wentworth Visitor Centre Conference Room.
The event will include the Australia Day Awards, a Citizenship Ceremony and official proceedings, concluding with a light supper.
The 2025 Australia Day Ambassador for Wentworth Shire is Mr Sam Bramham OAM.
Mr Bramham is a two-time Australian Paralympic Gold Medallist Swimmer, and in 2009 was awarded with the Order of Australia Medal for services to his country and for being a role model for his younger team mates.
He has also appeared on Channel Nines ‘Australian Ninja Warrior’ and was a contestant on ‘Big Brother Australia’ in 2014.
In August 2014, Mr Bramham released his autobiography ”Three-Quarter Man: Pranks, Passion and Paralympics’ through Affirm Press.
The event is open to the public, and award winners will be announced on the Council’s website at wentworth.nsw.gov.au following the ceremony.
The Australian Inland Botanic Gardens will host an Australia Day breakfast, cooked by the Buronga Gol Gol and District Lions Club on Sunday 26 January 2024 from 8am.
The Community Action Team will host a ‘Community Brunch in the Park’ in Tapio Park, Dareton, on Sunday 26 January 2025 from 10am.
