Weekend drink drivers in the Riverland

Murray Mallee Police detected several drivers putting themselves and others at risk on the roads over the long weekend.

A 25-year-old Paringa man recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.172 after being spotted by police driving around the Paringa oval about 5pm on Saturday 30 September.

He was reported for drink driving and issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence.

About 9pm on 30 September, a 34-year-old Elizabeth Vale man was reported for driving while disqualified and providing false details when police pulled him over on the Sturt Highway, Blanchetown.

At 8pm on 1 October, a 71-year-old woman recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.105 and positive to cannabis when stopped on Moorundie Street, Truro.  Police checks revealed she was also driving unlicensed.  She was reported for drink and drug driving and driving unlicensed and her vehicle was impounded for 28 days.

A 20-year-old Renmark man was stopped by police about 12.50am on Monday 2 October on Seventeenth Street, Renmark.  He recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.183.

He was reported for drink driving and issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence.  His vehicle was impounded for 28 days.

About 2am on 2 October, a 35-year-old Renmark woman tested positive to methamphetamine while driving on Twentieth Street, Renmark.

All reported drivers will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
