Weekend community gathering against violence

There are calls for local politicians, business and community leaders to hold a crisis meeting on violence against women.

Hundreds turned out for a community gathering against violence at Powerhouse Place late yesterday, saying enough is enough.

Gender Equity Action Sunraysia wants leaders to take action on the issue with the community.

It’s also asking locals to call out disrespect when they see it and when it’s safe to do so.

Organisers say the Mildura Local Government Area has the highest rate of family violence in Victoria, and women, Aboriginal communities, people with a disability and LGBTQIA+ people are disproportionately impacted.
