Victorian Transport Alert: Catastrophic Fire Danger

Today is rated as catastrophic fire danger for many parts of the state of Victoria, with extreme fire danger forecast for the remainder of the state.

Transport Victoria has reminded the community of the extreme danger of travelling in these conditions.

Roads may be closed and public transport routes may be cancelled at short notice.

All V/Line train services scheduled for the Albury, Ararat, Bendigo, Echuca, Maryborough, Seymour, Shepparton, Swan Hill and Warrnambool train lines will be cancelled, with no coach replacement services.

All V/Line coach services that pass through the North Central, North Country and South West fire districts will not operate for the entire journey including parts of the route not in the affected areas.

They also say that driving during a bushfire is extremely dangerous and can result in serious injury or death; always plan to leave early to avoid this situation.

If possible, all travel should be avoided in areas rated as catastrophic fire danger.

Drivers should follow the direction of emergency services and check the VicEmergency website https://www.emergency.vic.gov.au/ or app for the latest bushfire information.
