Locals will soon be invited to have their say on the Victorian Government’s plan to protect the food bowl region while also meeting its obligations under the Murray Darling Basin Plan.
It’s released its Planning our Basin Future Together Prospectus, saying it’s about safeguarding the environment and communities across the basin.
The prospectus has been developed following engagement with basin communities, and details the next steps following the Federal Government’s decision to buy back up to 450-gigalitres of additional water.

The Victorian Government says it remains opposed to water buybacks, and hasn’t signed any agreement with the Federal Government in exchange for funding.
