Victoria Police will have an increased presence on the roads this long weekend enforcing road safety to ensure every road user reaches their destination safely.
The 5-day road policing operation commences 00:01 hours on Friday 1 November and concludes 23:59 hours on Tuesday 5 November 2024.
Police will increase their focus on impaired driving, speed, fatigue, distraction offences, seatbelt non-compliance and vulnerable road user safety.
Long weekends are high-risk periods on our roads, with the Melbourne Cup long weekend typically experiencing an increase in road trauma in regional areas.
It is anticipated that many people will take the opportunity to travel to regional Victoria, so police are asking all road users to take responsibility for their actions while on the road and drive within the legal limits.
Police are saying to the community “Please enjoy the long weekend and stay safe”.
