The number of offences recorded in Mildura has risen by nine per cent in the 12-months to September.
There’ve been increases in theft from cars, criminal damage and thefts.
Swan Hill recorded a six-point-two per cent increase in offences.
There were 510,415 criminal offences recorded in Victoria in the twelve months to September 2023, representing an increase of 36,270 offences or 7.6% from the twelve months to September 2022.
Deputy Commissioner Regional Operations Neil Paterson APM says “Crime in Victoria continues to gradually increase from pandemic levels. However, the overall crime rate remains 3.4% below the latest reporting period un-impacted by coronavirus – the twelve months to September 2019.”
