A local MP is calling for the government to act, saying there are illegal and unsafe building works in Robinvale.
Member for Mildura Jade Benham has written to the housing minister, saying local CFA crews have raised serious concerns about modified dwellings and buildings being used as rooming houses in the Robinvale Irrigation District.
Benham says this includes sheds converted into houses and caravans under carports using unregulated and overloaded electrical works amongst other modifications.
She’s urged the Victorian Government to support the Swan Hill Rural City Council, asking for the issues to be addressed quickly so the safety of the community isn’t left to chance.
The local MP is particularly concerned about the serious fire risks posed.
