The Riverland has channel 7 back after just over 48 hours off the air.

A new deal was reached between Win Television and the Seven Network to see the channel return to free to air television after it went off the air on Tuesday.

The signal was switched back on around 5:00pm yesterday afternoon.

Mount Gambier in South Australia and Griffith in NSW have also seen a return of the service.

A joint statement released by both Win and Seven said free to air television had a significant impact for regional areas in providing sport, news and entertainment, as well as helping to provide a voice to regional Australians.

Both companies thanked locals for their patience as the two groups continued to work through a new deal.

Member for Mallee Anne Webster had previously expressed her fears that a lack of internet services in regional Australia meant aerial signals were essential for all areas.

Channel 10 switched off in the Mallee on July 1 last year.
