Due to recent acts of vandalism, and structural concerns, Mildura Rural City Council has made the decision to remove two large peppercorn trees adjacent to the Mildura Riverfront Skate Park.
These trees will be removed from Monday 4 September, with the team hoping to complete works by Thursday 7 September.
There will be NO access to the nearby area or the skate park while these works are carried out.
Council says removal of trees is always a last resort, however after a thorough examination of the trees by both Council arborists and a consulting arborist, it was agreed that there was no option but to remove these trees due to the potential risk they pose.
MRCC says these trees have no specific significance or relevance to this area, nor are they native, and that numerous trees have already been planted to offset these removals.
