The message is simple – Lock your Car!

Mildura Police have taken to social media, again, to remind residents and visitors to lock their vehicles.

They say that most thefts from cars are preventable, and that up to half of all thefts from motor vehicles reported to police show no signs of forced entry.

While police continue to patrol hot spots right across the state, and bring offenders to account, they say there are simple steps you can take to reduce your risk:

Never leave your car unlocked – even in your own driveway.

Don’t leave valuables in your car. If you must, store them out of sight.

Never leave house keys or garage door openers in your car.

Park in a well-lit, secure areas whenever possible.

Consider installing anti-theft screws to protect your number plates.
