Swan Hill Rural City Council will have a new mayor tonight, with councillors to elect the role and that of deputy mayor during a special meeting.
Les McPhee has confirmed he won’t be re-standing for the position after serving six terms in the top job during his time on council, saying it has been a privilege, and taking the opportunity to thank his fellow councillors and the wider community for their support.
But he says he’s looking forward to the important work of council over the next 12-months while spending more time with his family.
