Swan Hill Highway Patrol are currently policing alongside two TAC funded traffic operations which seek to provide extra policing shifts in the Swan Hill Police Service Area.
Operation Torino is focussed on removing all impaired drivers, while Operation Fortify is detecting speed offending.
Some recent incidents:
Between the 17th and 19th of November, 2023 Swan Hill Highway Patrol removed licenses from three drink drivers (across Robinvale & Swan Hill) and two drug drivers (in Serpentine & Manangatang).
Mobile Phone and Unregistered Vehicle tickets were also issued, however a further 16 drivers were issued penalty notices for speeding, three of those drivers losing their licenses in 28 days for excessive speeds with the highest speed detected at 161kmh in a 100kmh zone at Beverford.
Sadly, our Victorian Road Toll has already surpassed last year’s total and we have 6 weeks of the year left.
They have a message out over social media saying that their Swan Hill, Gannawarra & Buloke communities deserve better, so please, slow down and think of others when you choose to get behind the wheel.
