Swan Hill cat containment order to be enforced

From yesterday Swan Hill Rural City Council’s 24-hour Cat Containment Order may be enforced.

Following a 6-month grace period, authorised officers may issue warnings or other enforcement measures in accordance with the Domestic Animals Act 1994.

Council is calling on owners to make sure their furry friends stay safe and secure at home.

Meanwhile, Swan Hill Council is preparing a new Domestic Animal Management Plan, and they want community feedback.

Their 2026-2029 plan will set out procedures for managing dogs and cats, and outline how they support domestic animal management, including the safety and well-being of the entire community, and the promotion of responsible pet ownership.
