The ACCC’s Scamwatch figures show that Australian farm businesses have lost more than $1.2 million this year alone (to August 31st).

Over $1 million of that amount is due to tractor and heavy machinery scams.

Farmers are being urged to verify a business they are planning to deal with by searching the address of the business and calling a nearby business to ensuring the seller is who they say they are.

Farmers are also being warned to not give out too much personal information.

If you have been scammed, or have been approached by a scammer, you are encouraged to report the details to the Scamwatch website.
