UPDATE:
Drinking water customers in Woorinen South Township can access treated water for human consumption and cooking purposes free of charge from the water tanker near the Community Centre.
Lower Murray Water is asking residents to please bring a clean container to fill from the taps at the rear of the truck.
EARLIER:
Lower Murray Water (LMW) has advised customers in the Woorinen township to boil water for a minimum of one minute prior to consumption until further notice.
Emergency use restrictions are also imposed until further notice.
Water is safe for showers and baths but must be boiled and cooled if used for drinking and food preparation.
“A burst supply pipeline has caused the Woorinen water tower to be exhausted and as a part of the refill process we are issuing a boil water advice until the system is back to operating as normal” said LMW Spokesperson Darren Raeck.
“The limited supply is causing a reduction in the ability to disinfect the water to a potable standard.”
“A drinking water supply truck is currently being prepared to be located in Woorinen Township for customers to fill containers with. We will provide further advice on its location on our social media channels.”
Other areas in the region are not affected and can continue to use water as usual.
