As NSW Rural Road Safety Month enters Week 4, the message is simple: seatbelts save lives.
Familiarity on local roads doesn’t guarantee safety.
In fact, 83% of all fatal crashes on NSW country roads involve a country resident.
Whether you are heading across the state or just down the road, buckling up is non-negotiable.
Wearing a seatbelt doubles your chance of surviving a crash and significantly reduces the risk of injury.
The danger is even greater in rollover crashes, where those not wearing a seatbelt are more than 15 times more likely to suffer fatal injuries.
