Riverland weekend traffic roundup

Over the weekend South Australia’s Murray Mallee Police detected nine drivers in separate incidents driving while positive for drugs or alcohol, or in breach of the road rules, including in the Riverland:

A 52-year-old man was stopped on Sturt Highway at Waikerie, and a 26-year-old man was stopped on Zante Road, Berri. Both drivers received three-month immediate loss of licence notices and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date pending forensic analysis of their drug test samples.

On Friday 12 December, Berri Police reported a 48-year-old man from Paringa for drink-driving. It will be alleged that he was stopped driving on Renmark Avenue when he returned a positive breath test result of 0.141. He was issued with a six-month immediate loss of licence notice and had his vehicle impounded for 28 days. He will be summonsed to appear in Berri Magistrates Court at a later date.

On Friday 12 December, Berri Police reported a 66-year-old man from Renmark. It will be alleged that he was stopped driving on Para Street, Renmark when he returned a positive breath test result of 0.129. He was issued with a six-month immediate loss of licence notice and had his vehicle impounded for 28 days. He will be summonsed to appear in Berri Magistrates Court at a later date.
