Riverland Murray Mallee weekend traffic wrap

SA Police have reported four drivers following a series of traffic offences across the Riverland over the weekend including two drink driving offences.

At about 7:00pm on Saturday 23 May, police stopped a Mitsubishi ute on Ian Oliver Drive, Waikerie, for a driver test.

The driver, a 39-year-old man from Blakeview, returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.210 – more than four times the legal limit.

He was reported for drink driving, issued a 12-month immediate loss of licence notice and his vehicle was impounded for 28 days.

He will be summonsed to appear in the Berri Magistrates Court at a later date.

And just before 1:00am on Sunday 24 May, a Ford ute was driven on Raymont Avenue, Loxton, when police signalled for the driver to stop.

The vehicle failed to do so and was detected a short time later.

The driver, a 25-year-old Barmera man, was arrested and allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.096.

He was also found to be driving on an expired licence.

He was reported for dangerous driving to avoid police pursuit, drink driving and driving unlicensed.

He was issued with a six-month immediate loss of licence notice and will appear in the Berri Magistrates Court at a later date.
