Research find seasonal water forecasting can be improved

A new research project has found improvements in forecasting seasonal water allocations for the Murray River System can be achieved.

Melbourne Uni researchers have worked with groups including the Mallee Regional Innovation Centre to develop the method of producing water allocation outlooks based on real time weather and catchment data.

There’s already been a pilot study on the Goulburn River System and researchers believe that can be transferred to the Murray.
