The Greens argue water buybacks are the most efficient way to recover water for the Murray River, but say rural and regional communities in the Basin won’t be left high and dry.
The minor party last week sided with the Labor Government to pass the new plan, which includes an extended date for the buybacks.
The coalition is still against the initiative that’ll allow farmers to sell their water to the government, saying it’ll rip the heart out of local basin economies.
