Rate of poverty here higher than in Melbourne

Startling research has found almost thirty per cent of children in Mildura North are living in poverty.

The Victorian Council of Social Service has found the poverty rate is higher in regional and rural areas than in Melbourne.

The figures also show 19 per cent of locals in Mildura North are living in economic disadvantage, the second highest in the state, while the number is 17 per cent in Robinvale, compared to 11 per cent in Irymple.
