A man has been charged following a pursuit in Broken Hill.
About 12.40am on Friday (9 January 2026), officers attached to Barrier Police District were conducting high visibility patrols on Silver City Highway, Broken Hill, when they attempted to stop a Nissan Ute with a trail bike in the tray.
When the Ute failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued onto Kanadah Road, where the Ute entered scrub land towards a creek bed, before a trail bike was seen exiting a short time later.
The pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns.
An extensive search for the driver commenced, however they were unable to be located.
The vehicle was seized for forensic examination.
Following inquiries, police arrested a 25-year-old man on Kanandah Road, Broken Hill, before taking him to Broken Hill Police Station where he was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly.
