Impacted communities in the Far West are being told they need to prepare for a prolonged outage after the large scale back up generator supplying power has tripped around 5:00pm yesterday.
Crews onsite have continued working to investigate a fault with the generator, with repairs expected to last into today, Tuesday 22 October.
Additional generators will arrive in Broken Hill today, and teams from Transgrid and Essential Energy will work to safely connect them to the network.
More generators are also on their way to provide additional back-up supply, while emergency work continues to rebuild the transmission network damaged in severe storms.
The Triple Zero (000) service is the quickest way to get the right resources from emergency services to help you in life threatening or time critical situations, noting that there may be some impacts to the telecommunications networks in this area due to the power outage.
These details were issued by NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water just after midnight.
Another update is due mid-morning.
