Four transmission towers have now been erected by Transgrid, which is working to rebuild 9 transmission towers in total (7 damaged in the storm, with an extra 2). The transmission towers are tall structures that support overhead power lines carrying electricity.
Essential Energy is asking customers with solar panels to switch off their solar supply main switch to help keep the network stable. Customers should only do this if they know how to and can do it safely.
Transgrid have asked customers to please continue to minimise your energy use during the evening peak period and continue to use energy as normal during the day.
Power has been restored to affected areas in Broken Hill.
Some areas may continue to experience short periods without power, as they practice load sharing to ensure the grid remains stable.
The rebuild is expected to be complete by 6 November (weather dependent).
