Last weekend Mildura Highway Patrol and the Environmental Protection Agency conducted a joint operation targeting noisy vehicles and complaints of hoon driving behaviour, particularly around the area of Fifteenth Street.

The operation resulted in 10 vehicles being tested by the EPA, with 8 EPA notices with accompanying infringements issued and 2 warnings given for excessive noise.

In most of these vehicles, the owners had removed the mufflers deliberately.

The Mildura Highway Patrol also issued 7 defects for issues ranging from vehicles being too low, to a battery secured by a red bull can.

During the operation members of the Highway Patrol detected numerous other offences, including a Ford Falcon driving 81kmh in a 60 zone. The 47 year old male driver had zero alcohol and interlock conditions on their Drivers Licence. They returned a result of 0.086, resulting in their vehicle being impounded.

That driver will be summonsed to the Mildura Magistrates Court at a later date.
