Operation Arid concludes

Operation Arid wound up yesterday (Monday, March 11) as local Victoria Police members urge motorists to plan ahead, travel smart and drive patiently to get to their end destination safely.

The three days of the long weekend on the roads around Swan Hill nabbed 90+ motorists for all manner of offending, including 8 drivers losing their licences for excessive speed.

Some of the offending is as follows:

• 157kmh in a 100kmh zone on the Sunraysia Hwy by a 28 year old male from Melbourne. $962 fine and 12 month loss of licence.

• 142kmh in a 100kmh zone by a Mildura man desperate to get back to Mildura for work. $817 fine and 6 month loss of licence.

• A suspended driver from Victoria caught doing 15kmh over the speed limit will front court at a later date after being detected speeding in Wycheproof. After providing a false name and police having to sort his true identity the male finally admitted he’d been caught drink driving two months prior.

• A Learner Driver caught doing 135kmh on the Loddon Highway. $817 in fines and 6 month loss of licence for the speed and not having L plates displayed. The accompanying driver received a $240 fine for allowing a Learner driver to drive at more than 25kmh over the posted speed limit

• A Victorian man driving on the wrong side of the road in Donald. $380 fine before being detected at 118kmh on the Sunraysia Hwy 10 mins later and receiving another $380 fine.
