The New South Wales Government has launched its Alternatives to Buybacks Plan, saying it’s aimed at minimising the exposure of regional communities to water buybacks.
Federal Labor put in buybacks in the amended legislation for the Murray Darling Basin Plan, which has angered many basin communities.
The NSW Minns Government says it doesn’t support the buybacks, saying the plan has to be delivered in a way that reduces socio-economic impacts.

Its plan also calls on the Federal Government to prioritise investment in recovering water through other mechanisms.
