Remote, rural and regional NSW is considered the food basket of the State, and the NSW Country Mayors Association says it is imperative that they get the levers right in managing the fuel crisis to make sure that produce from the regions continues to reach tables in the city.
Chairman of the Country Mayors Association of NSW (CMA) Mayor Rick Firman OAM says “given the impact on the communities our members represent, the CMA has welcomed the opportunity to participate in the NSW Government’s Rural and Regional Diesel Fuel Security Roundtable meetings.”
“The meetings, two of which have been held in the last 9 days, are enabling representative organisations from across the spectrum to come together to voice their concerns and discuss possible ways forward” Mayor Firman said.
Country Mayors Association of NSW have nearly 100 member Local Government Areas including Wentworth and Balranald Shire Councils and Broken Hill City Council.
