No fire permits will be issued for the Wentworth and Balranald Local Government Areas from the start of this week (18th of December), through to 21st of January 2024 inclusive.
NSW Rural Fire Service are taking the opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy start to 2024, but are saying with the increased fuel loads and during hot, dry or windy conditions, fires can start quickly and spread rapidly.
Given the time of year, they want their members to enjoy this time with their family and friends, not to be out responding to fires across the district.
It only takes one small error and that error can lead to a major incident within our community.
They are also encouraging community members to download the NSWRFS public messaging application FIRES NEAR ME NSW.
