Starting 5 October 2026, Wentworth Shire Council is moving to a new 3-bin kerbside collection service to help reduce landfill and recover valuable resources.
Here are the answers to some Frequently Asked Questions about the rollout:
What is changing?
Council is introducing a dedicated Food & Garden Organics bin and a new recycling bin to help households separate waste at the source. This service upgrade helps our Shire comply with the NSW Government mandate requiring all councils to provide a Food & Garden Organics service by 2030.
What will be delivered to my home?
Prior to the October launch, eligible households will receive:
– A 240L lime green-lid Food & Garden Organics bin
– A 240L yellow-lid Recycling bin
– A kitchen caddy for collecting indoor food scraps
– A supply of Council approved compostable caddy liners
– An information pack with a collection calendar and sorting guide
Eligible households are properties that currently receive a Council kerbside waste collection service and meet the requirements for the three-bin service.
