Mildura Rural City Council area’s new 120-litre, purple-lidded kerbside glass collection service is off to an incredible start, with more than 5.2 tonnes collected in the first week alone.
Officially getting underway from 1 July 2024, the new service has been introduced to comply with Victorian Government legislation, which will see all Victorian councils required to provide a standard, four-stream waste and recycling system.
Councillor for Environmental and Sustainability Jason Modica thanked the community for embracing the new service, which is seeing precious glass materials collected so it can be transformed into new and useful items.
