More detections of the dangerous mosquito born Murray Valley Encephalitis has prompted authorities to remind locals to cover up and avoid mozzie bites.
The virus is thought to be circulating widely throughout the region now, spread through mosquito bites but not human to human contact.
The risk of infection is expected to continue to be high while we see a high amount of mosquito numbers around the region.
Anyone with symptoms including headaches, body aches and nausea should seek urgent medical care, however many infected people won’t display symptoms.
Meanwhile vaccinations are again being offered this week for Japanese Encephalitis at the Mildura RSL on Wednesday and Mildura Central on Thursday.
