Murray River funding in Swan Hill Council area including Robinvale

Swan Hill Rural City Council has plans for five-million dollars from the Federal Government, including a new public gathering space at Robinvale overlooking the Murray.

Mayor Stuart King says the money is through the Growing Regions Program to transform areas on the Murray River.

He says another project is building a new Pental Island pedestrian bridge and work on the island.

Project breakdown:

1 a) Pental Island Pedestrian Bridge

Construction of a new pedestrian bridge will provide a necessary connective passage between Pental Island Aboriginal Cultural Precinct and Pioneer Settlement.

1 b) Pental Island – Area one

Pental Island – Area one is the priority delivery stage that will enable the realization if a new Aboriginal, Cultural Tourism and Educational experience.

2) Swan Hill Wharf / Ten Steps

A new public wharf within Riverside Park in Swan Hill that includes the removal of existing flood damaged infrastructure and addresses existing riverbank erosion.

3) Robinvale Terrace

A new public gathering space overlooking the Murray River with the Robinvale Community Art Centre precinct.
